It's definitely a bad time when you leave your laptop open on the bed for a few minutes, and come back to discover your dog has been using it as an extremely expensive chew toy.

The owner of this MacBook Pro - a high-end 2020 four-Thunderbolt model, the last of the Intel-powered era - was understandably very upset. From just a corner chew, the LCD panel was completely nonfunctional, with just the barest hint of backlight as proof that it wasn't the whole computer.

Luckily, I was able to procure an OEM replacement panel for the model. Apple's internal design for the laptop is not friendly to open and access for a novice, but is not overwhelmingly difficult with keeping careful track of screw and part placements.

The biggest issue with removing the screen is that the now-discontinued Touch Bar is nested inside the same frame and cabling as the screen, needing careful disassembly and maneuvering through tight spaces in order to get out of the way before taking off the clamshell proper.

With very methodical reassembly, this computer was restored to full function, just like it never happened!

It's not being left on the bed anymore, though.
